Yo Peepes, I spin Crack house (as well as New Skool) - I actually released a CD titled [k}rack haus...
A mix of twitchy, tweaky big bass techno/house musik.
I just released a record with a track on it I would classify as "crack house" - ask for it by name - DJ Ripple Remix of Ghostdogg (you can find it in BPM, Amoeba, Skills)

Unsu...
Well, considering I just got introduced to crackhouse by none other than yourself this last Saturday, I have little experience. But from listening to your NYE set you very kindly gave me, I have the following impressions of crackhouse:
1. 4x4 is pretty dominant, even in the more breaky stuff, thus the "house aspect"
2. Off-kilter lyrics/melodies, usually in minor keys, thus the "crack" aspect
3. Almost a total lack of builds, breakdowns, etc. Even the bridges are small, no pads or synths or strings, just little breakbeats and fills, etc. Which I really like, by the way. This ain't yo momma's trance.
4. No divas. Thank God. (OK, maybe a little bit, but it's still somehow alternative, somehow non-pop. Even on "A Little Bit More" the chorus is "left of center" for lack of a better term, reminds me greatly of very early Moby when he had a wicked mix of "Go".)
5. Less is more. Quite minimalist as far as house is concerned, which places a lot of the crackhouse on your NYE set dangerously close to "deep house" or even "dark house" territory. Many times I'm tempted to slap those genres on it, but I'm getting a better feel for crackhouse with each listening and it's clear it *is* qualitatively different, somehow.
6. I've noticed quite a bit of distortion. Not "industrial" or anything, but snares, kicks, stuff like that is definitely turned up until something broke, so to speak. I think this also creates the "crack" feeling.
Anyway, those are just my first impressions. Oh, and I should mention, "A Little Bit More" is one of the best fucking songs I've heard in quite some time. That song has POWER. Lots and lots and lots of it.

Jesus..... Thanks. I accept. :)
I s'pose I (like many djs we know) have been rocking 'crack house' since before the term was coined. Although it makes sense that it was you that thought of it (hehe). I tend to reserve the full-on Crack House for special occasions- The End Up in particular. Expect a big dose of it at the Opel/Anon Salon party on Sunday; speaking of which, when you playin', Goldie?
p.s.- We need to throw a Crack House party. Oh yes. We must.

Jezzus could you look a little more Irish? Springing out of the shamrocks like that. (Don't forget only Americans know about shamrocks - I've only seen them ONCE over there, growin' out of Damo's aul Granny's front stoop)
Don't ferget to use the photos of you up on the wee Isle o'Rathlin
and over there in Glasto, spruce up yer profile! (the one of you with the panama hat?)
hope you are well!

Re: how's the Craic?
07/20They're not shamrock, they are the first pwitty wittle snowdrops of this Sping. All the shamrock is sold to tourists at a fiver a sprig *grin*. I wouldn't PRESUME to be a padd..... er Irish. I'll always be a FEB (Feckin English Baarstard) But I don't give a monkey's crotchpiece coz I's frem Yawkshyre.
I'm just tickety boo thanks, and I think I can take it yer just dandy?
I don't think any photies of me on Rathlin exist, plenty of yurt pics though. Maybe I'll manage to get some this year (even though it isn't happening really) Yeah right like the success I had at Glasters this year lol! Too starry eyed, too much fun. A total "where do I start" one again. Two years to the next one, and we WILL have 2 stands, I got us sorted to make candles and run workshops up in the Green Crafts area next year, the Waxies Road to the Dargle has opened up ahead :) I'll fiddle with the pics thing, get some photies of the new shop up there fer you to have a peek at. 4 floors of horticultural hydro happiness (depending upon your point of view)
Not much craic here at the moment, hanging out at Boydies, talking shite and waiting for something to happen (workin on me own thing though, bit by bit) The pig has dissarpeard in the long grass, and we can only spot it by the movement of the grass across the field. Thats pretty funny. Boyd had to send his Ma and Aunt away coz he kept shaggin them, think they're on Rathlin now. Oh and he's started growing tusks (Boyd not the pig........oh er other way round......hmm then again.......)
Oh fuck aye, you remember last year at Glasters, a friend of Boyd's here (dunno if you know Stevie McGoldrick) was seriously ill, very touch and go, he got the last rites twice. Well, all I have to say is he came with us to the big G this year and had a ball. A very fuckin crazy guy. Very glad he came.
Right I'm off to play with a Eriks new motherboard and processor, and laff at the pig.
Later. -

Ok, Crack house is now officially all that good music that falls through the cracks, and provides lots of good Craic.
Dylan Rhymes I do admit is certainly crack house.
